Westland Park
Pups love running around off-leash, and the Westland Park Dog Park is a perfect destination for Fido and the family. This large grassy park features two separate areas for large and small pups, and Fido will have a blast running around chasing other dogs or sniffing the trees. There are water fountains and doggie waste bags available, and pup parents can relax on a bench and chat with friends. In the large park outside of the dog park, pups and their parents can walk laps on the paved walkway while the kids have fun on the playground.

City Center/ Brookside Drive
Located near the middle of town on Brookside Drive, Brookside Park features two playgrounds for the kids in addition to plenty of space to walk your pup. If your kids enjoy skateboarding, the park features skate ramps, and you and Fido can walk around the paths and watch the kids play. You can also relax at one of the picnic areas and enjoy a snack with your pooch. The park is well-maintained, so bring your own doggie waste bags and clean up. Before heading to the park, stop by Durango Joe’s Coffee where you can pick up a tea or Frappe and breakfast burrito to give you plenty of energy to walk laps with Fido.

Boyd Park
Boyd Park and the Riverwalk Nature Trail offer a great place to spend time with your furry companion. You and Fido can walk through the nature area and admire the Animas River. The paved pathway follows the river both north and south, providing plenty of exercise for both you and your pooch. You will probably see a variety of wildlife, so make sure to keep Fido on his leash. The kids will also enjoy the park and can spend time on the playground or running around in the open grassy areas. If you need a pooch-friendly place to stay, stop by Brentwood Inn where up to three pets are welcome for an additional fee.

Scott Ave/ San Juan Ave
If you are looking for a tranquil spot to spend some quality time with your pup, head over to Berg Park. Although the park is in town, you will find open areas and shaded benches where you and your pooch can enjoy some peace and quiet. You can also walk along the nature trail that follows the Animas River and admire the scenery. Fido will have a puptastic time rolling in the grass and plants, or sniffing the trees. The park is well maintained, and you will find convenient restrooms and a water fountain near the parking lot. The kids will have a blast at the playground, and you can even walk your pup in the evening with lighted walkways. Comfort Inn is located nearby and welcomes pups for an additional fee and advance reservation.

Farmington Lake
If you are staying at the pup-friendly Best Western Plus near Farmington Lake, you can easily enjoy the pooch-friendly activities nearby. The St. Clair Vineyard Winery Bistro is a stylish restaurant where you can order a variety of delicious meals. Relax with your pooch on the outdoor patio while sipping a glass of wine, and the waitstaff will bring Fido a bowl of water. Just a few minutes up the road, your pup will also enjoy Saddleback Dog Park. This fenced in area allows pups to run off-leash and get rid of some excess energy. There is a shaded bench where pup parents can relax while the dogs run around and socialize with their furry friends.
