The very intimate yet spacious city of Cheney is located about 30 miles west of Rockford, and is easily accessible from Interstate 90 and Highway 195. Literally a hop, skip and a jump directly south (6 miles), the expansive Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge offers up its more than 18,000 acres of Channeled Scablands to be enjoyed by locals and their on-leash doggies! Cheever Lake Headquarters Trail is a 3-mile hiking path located in the Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge that is an exceptionally good trail to walk with Fido! Fish Lake Trail is another great walking option to take your pooch on; it was formerly an old railroad that has been recycled into a fun, outdoor walking trail!

Mica

Mica is a very spacious and spread out neighborhood that is located just 12 minutes away, along Highway 27, making it extremely easy to get in and out of the area. Mica Peak Conservation Area is a scenic mountainous area situated on 911 acres and provides locals, visitors and their leashed dogs in the area the opportunity to enjoy their extensive trail system! Iller Creek Conservation Area Trail, Saltese Uplands Conservation Area, and Liberty Lake Regional Park are some other nice hikes located in beautiful conservation areas that allows on-leash pups! Liberty Lake Regional Park in particular has a dedicated swimming beach, barbeque pits, campgrounds, shelters, play areas, and a 7-mile hiking trail!

Glenrose

Glenrose

Glenrose is located about 25 miles northwest of Rockford and is conveniently situated between Interstate 90 and Highway 195. South Hill Dog Park gives pooches the opportunity to meet and greet other pups in the area and provides three part entrances, shade trees, and tennis balls to play with! Iller Creek Conservation Area is an excellent outdoor recreational activity you and your dog can experience together. It spans about 900 acres and includes a scenic 4.8-mile hike that you and your on-leash fur baby can take for exercise and overall mental well-being.

Liberty Lake

Liberty Lake

Liberty Lake is very close to the Idaho/Washington border and only a half an hour north from Rockford. This Washington locale is nooked along the Spokane River and provides quick and easy access to the Spokane River Centennial Trail! Scraps Dog Park is a large, fenced-in, off-leash dog area that provides water, shaded areas, and poop clean up stations. Spokane River Centennial Trail is an awesome trail is part of the Rails-to-Trails project the has taken over 1,600 former railways and repurposed them into useable walking paths for people like you and your leashed pup to utilize!

Despite the fact that the Plummer, Idaho community is technically located in a different state, it rests just 17 miles east of Rockford and offers some fun dog-friendly activities! Conveniently located along Highway 95 and Cedar Street, it is easy accessible and extremely small and intimate. The Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes is a neat little trail that used to be a railroad corridor or railway that has been reutilized, and is now a convenient walking trail you and Fido can take advantage of! Indian Cliff Trail is another fun outing you and your on-leash pup can take; it is a 3-mile trek that is located in the 7,800 acre Heyburn State Park.
