For some amazing outdoor experiences, look no further than the Medicine Bow – Routt National Forest in the town of Steamboat Springs, just 25 miles east of Craig. You and your fur-ever friend will never run out of adventure here. There are mountain streams that Fido can play in and endless year-round hiking opportunities. Fido is allowed off leash throughout. Trails are for shared use with horses and OHV’s, so be aware of others when he is off leash. Don’t forget to pack plenty of water and food to share during this rural, outdoor exploration.

You will find plenty to do in the Hayden Town Park, in the North Hayden neighborhood, in the town of Hayden, 17 miles east of Craig. There are plenty of open spaces to roam and relax, with your fur-ever friend on an extended leash. Check out a game at the park’s sports courts and root on your favorite team. And don’t forget to bring some burgers and dogs to flip on the BBQ grills provided here, located by the picnic facilities. Restrooms and water fountains are on site. Little Toots offers hiking trails that meander directly to the adjacent Yampa River for spectacular scenery and fun times. These trails are perfect for all pup-abilities. This 20-acre property offers a one-mile walking trail, just the perfect length for a nice stroll with your fur-ever friend. A disc golf is ready for you to show off your skills to your pup, a beautiful pond is stocked with fish, and there are sports fields where Fido can roam on an extended leash. Restrooms and drinking fountains are on site. Be sure to keep Fifi on leash and bring clean up mitts to keep this park pristine.

West Steamboat Springs
In the West Steamboat Springs neighborhood, in the town of Steamboat Springs, just 25 miles east of Craig, you and your pawtastic pup will have fun at Fetcher Park. Here you will find a stocked fishing pond, perfect for a relaxing day along the water’s edge with Fido. There is direct access to the Yampa River Trail, open play areas, and restrooms. Pet pick up stations are on site. Or try Emerald Park's similar features, including picnic tables and BBQ grills. Please be advised that all pups must remain on leash at both of these parks. This is strictly enforced.
