Wag! Walkers know Hayden Falls
Hayden Falls is a neighborhood located in the northwest section of Columbus, Ohio. There is a shopping district and commercial area on the southeast side that is within easy walking distance for residents who can access restaurants, shops, and other services here.

If you like to go for daily walks, you will need to be prepared with warm outerwear in winter months when the temperature drops below freezing and snow blankets the ground. Icy walkways can be treacherous, so good footwear is also recommended. If your dog gets cold easily, your pup may appreciate a winter coat too. Summer months are warm and extreme heat is not common so you can enjoy travelling with your pet as long as you take reasonable precautions to stay hydrated. Severe storms do occasionally occur and should be avoided as high winds, torrential rain, and lightning present hazards to pedestrians.
What is the terrain like in Hayden Falls?
Hayden Falls is situated on the east bank of the Scioto River with Case Road bordering it to the north, Hayden Run Road on the south, and Harvest Street to the east. This developed urban neighborhood has an apartment complex on its west side and single-family homes on the east side with the remainder of the neighborhood acting as a multi-family housing complex.

Most residential areas have separate sidewalks for pedestrians to keep you from having to share roads with local traffic. The area is well landscaped with the communal properties having trees and lawns. There are some inclines in the area, although most of the hills are not steep and pedestrians can climb them without too much effort.

Hayden Road to the south is a heavily trafficked thoroughfare and, when walking your dog along this road, make sure your pup is securely leashed and used to the sights and sounds of traffic.
How many greenways are there in Hayden Falls?
Hayden Falls residents are situated on the east bank of the Scioto river, however,  by crossing the river on Hayden Run Road, they can access the Hayden Falls Park situated on the west bank. This unique greenway features a creek running through a gorge with a 35-foot waterfall on the riverbank. A pedestrian path with stairs, a boardwalk, and overlook provide a view of the water courses. Located on two acres, this greenway has some picnic tables and is a natural park providing habitat to local flora and fauna.

Once you have crossed the river, you can head north to the Llewellyn Farms Park on foot which has two sections. There is a tennis and basketball court here with paved walking paths that run through the open and treed areas.

A trip to the south will take you to Upper Arlington’s Burbank Park. With 7 acres of natural greenway and a walking trail, this park is an ideal destination for dog walkers.
