Wag! Walkers know Bougenvista
Bougenvista is a tiny community in Tampa, Florida that sits in the shadow of I-275. Despite being a part of the Greater Tampa area, it still manages to find a way to remain very suburban in nature. Houses are comfortable family homes with an average of three bedrooms and one bath. Most sit on lots that are about 1/4-acre in size and have plenty of grass and shade trees for your pup to play in. The streets have no sidewalks for the two of you to walk on, but as long as you pay attention to the traffic, you should be fine! You will need to travel to find a pet supply store or groomer, however. Like all of Tampa, summers here tend to be very hot and humid. The best times of day to take your pup out for a walk are early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid that midday heat.
What is the terrain like in Bougenvista?
The ground here is very flat and offers little in the way of
a challenge for experienced dog walkers and dogs. Thankfully, while the
community itself is small, there are plenty of other communities nearby for the two of
you to explore. Keep in mind that while it would be nice to have hills to make
your walks more interesting, they are not a vital part of a good workout. The
trick to getting plenty of healthy exercises when the terrain is so flat is
finding new places to walk, going different directions each day, and getting in the car and seeking out new trails to hike. For example, the two of
you can head over to the Forest Hills Community Center where there is plenty of
grass for you to play catch or fetch on, helping your pup to get the exercise
needed to keep both of you healthy!
How many greenways are there in Bougenvista?
While Bougenvista might be one of the older communities in
the area, it is woefully short on green space. That is unless you count the
lovely large yards most of the homes here have. If you want to find real
green spaces for the two of you to enjoy, you will need your car and a little
extra time.
The nearest park is Copeland Park to the east. Here, the Copeland
Park Trail runs all around the park giving you and your dog a beautiful place
to walk under the shady trees. Along with
trails to walk on, the park also offers wide open grassy areas for you and your
dog to play frisbee, chase each other around, and generally make up for the
fact the land here is as flat as a pancake. If you don't mind the drive, Lettuce
Lake Park is also a beautiful park to take your dog for a walk in.
