sitting on the east bank of the Halifax River with the Atlantic coast a five-minute
walk to the east. While South Peninsula Drive runs right past the community, this road
tends to be less busy than South Atlantic Avenue, the main road running along
the beach. Those houses that sit right on the riverbank have docks with covered
areas for their boats and, in some cases, a covered pavilion with a picnic table for
family fun days.
There are several stores, bars, and restaurants nearby,
many within walking distance. However, if you want anything more
significant like Walmart or Publix, it will mean having to go over the
Dunlawton Bridge and back into town. As long as you stay on Dunlawton, it will
take you through the main shopping area in the
city and all the way to the I-95 interchange. It doesn't get much better
than this with everything so close!
What is the terrain like in Riverview?
Being a couple of blocks from the beach and Dunlawton Avenue means that you are likely to hear far more traffic than you actually see. While South Peninsula
Drive also tends to be a bustling road as well, the Riverview neighborhood sits a
block to the west from this, which should keep vehicular traffic to a minimum. There is a little bit during the daily rush hours, but it shouldn't be anything too daunting for the average dog walker.
The yards are large and often have children playing in them
during the day and into the evening, along with people walking to the beach or
the many local eateries and bars. In general,
you may find you want to take your walks early in the morning or late in the evening
when both vehicular and pedestrian traffic is at a minimum and you and your dog can walk around the area without running into too many problems.
How many greenways are there in Riverview?
