Wag! Walkers know Logue Tate
Located over on the beachside peninsula, Logue Tate is a cul-de-sac of family homes located between South Peninsula Drive and the Halifax River.
Those with houses on the riverbank have
private docks with boathouses. To the north is Pat's Café, a riverfront café with boat docks and a tasty menu. The beach is only a three-block
walk that should take the two of you no more than ten minutes!
There are several restaurants nearby. If you need supplies
such as groceries and, more importantly, dog food and treats, everything you need
is only a few minutes to the west over the bridge and onto Dunlawton Avenue.
There are a few small parks on the beachside, but you
have miles of sand to walk on, so maybe a park isn't quite as necessary. Alternatively, there are other green spaces back on the mainland within a short driving distance if you want something besides the dunes to
spend time with your dog on.
What is the terrain like in Logue Tate?
Living on the beachside means dealing with a fair amount
of both rush hour and tourist traffic. While South Peninsula Drive may not
be the main road running along the beach, it does serve as a popular option for
locals to avoid the heavy traffic on A1A. The only saving grace is that, on the east side of South Peninsula Drive, there is a wide paved sidewalk. Most of the neighboring communities suffer from
the same lack of sidewalks.
Being close to Dunlawton also tends to add to the traffic,
but again, if you plan your walk times around the busiest hours, you can avoid
most of it. Alternatively, you and your pup can walk the single block to the beach
on the other side of South Atlantic Avenue. Here, you and your dog can hike for miles in either direction, enjoying
the fresh air and sunshine as well as each other's company.
How many greenways are there in Logue Tate?
One of the hardest parts of living on the beachside peninsula is the lack of green spaces for you
and your dog to play and walk on. There
are a few small community parks to the north over in Daytona Beach as well as the Port Orange
Causeway Park. Then there's the various
parks, nature preserves, and the Tiger Bay Wildlife Management Area all on the
mainland.
But let's get back to this side of the Halifax River and talk
a little more about the beach! Although it's not green in color, the beach
still counts as a green space. The two of you can hike out on that dry, soft
sand that sucks at your feet and makes your leg muscles work. Take a break at the end of your outbound leg, go for a dip in the waves to cool off, and use the wet sand at the edge of the surf to gently
stroll back to the car.
