Wag! Walkers know Autumn Trail
Autumn Trail is a manufactured home community along Madeline
Avenue with Atlantic High School-Volusia as a neighbor to the north. To the east, there are more mobile home communities
and a vast area of woods. Unlike some mobile home parks, the homes here have modest
yards and there are several cul-de-sacs
along the east side of the zone. Autumn Trail is
a tranquil neighborhood with traffic limited to residents.
Living here puts you dead in the middle of the city when it comes to
shopping. If you go south on South Nova Road, it
will take you to Dunlawton Avenue, the main east-west highway in town. Along this street, you can find just about anything
you need from groceries for yourself to food and treats for your pooch. If you
go north on South Nova instead, your journey will take you to Beville Road, one of
the central shopping districts in South
Daytona.
What is the terrain like in Autumn Trail?
This is a tranquil
part of town and, during the average day, you will see some rush hour
traffic, but even this only lasts for a few minutes. In
general, you and your dog should be able
to go for walks along Autumn Trail and in the surrounding communities without
having to deal with much in the way of traffic or any strenuous hills that may crop up along the way.
Having said this, there
is one form of traffic you are likely to encounter throughout the day. Pedestrians can be common in this family-centered neighborhood which can present a bit of an impediment, especially if your dog is not one to normally greet strangers. You may need to venture to one of the neighborhing communities that is less populated or take some time to head to one of the nearby greenways to put some ample space between any passersby and your pup.
How many greenways are there in Autumn Trail?
To the east is a vast area of woods where you and your dog can
probably find places to walk out of the sun's glare. The high school is
to the north and has vast athletic fields for the two of you to play on when school's out. To the west and north of the high school are vast areas of undeveloped land and a lake you can take walks around.
For something completely different, you can take US-92 to the west to one of the many entrances to the Tiger Bay State Forest
and Wildlife Management Area. Here, you and your dog can join the many cyclists,
horseback riders, and hikers exploring the 30,000 acres of forests, wetlands,
and scrublands. There are plenty of trails here to keep things exciting and you never know when you might see a family of
whitetail deer or maybe a mama black bear and her cubs playing in a meadow!
