Wag! Walkers know Watermark Condo
The Watermark Condominiums sit on the beach along N Atlantic
Avenue, offering residents a beautiful view of the beach, the water, and, if you get up early enough, one of the most spectacular sunrises you are likely
to ever see. You can
get up early and take your dog for long walks in the sand before the rest of the
world starts moving or simply sit out on
your balcony and enjoy a fresh cup of coffee.
The condos are located
just a few short blocks north of Flagler Avenue, a historic street filled with
boutiques, stores, restaurants, and bars. As part of the New
Smyrna Beach historic district, the avenue
contains a large selection of the 312 historic buildings within the New Smyrna
Beach Historic District, designated as such in April of 1990.
You can even have your name engraved on a brick and added to the "Walk of
Fame!"
What is the terrain like in Watermark Condo?
Living here puts you close the central part of town without
being so close that you have to deal with all the traffic. This, of course, doesn't mean you are so far
away from the basic amenities such as grocery
stores that carry pet supplies and fabulous restaurants to check out.
But what it does mean is that while this part of N Atlantic Avenue tends to be quite
busy, there are other parts of town where the roads are less so.
You will encounter a fair amount of vehicular traffic, including
out on the dunes of the beachfront since motorized vehicles are permitted. You can count on plenty of pedestrian traffic during peak seasons as well. No
matter whether you choose to walk on the sand or out on the main road, you should
consider getting out for you walks early in the morning or keeping your pup on a short leash.
How many greenways are there in Watermark Condo?
Right next door to the condominium is the Esther Street Park
which offers only a small area of grass
and direct access to the beach.
To the north is the combination Grayce K. Barch Park, Grayce
K. Barch North Beach Community Park, and a Volusia Beaches Fire Pit Area, one of
the only places in the county where you are permitted to have a beach fire. You,
your family, and your pooch can enjoy hikes on the trails through the woods, a
dip in the ocean, and a blazing fire in the evening to cap off your day.
Further to the north is Smyrna Dunes Park, a 73-acre dog-friendly
park at the end of the peninsula where it juts out into the Ponce Inlet. There is
1.5-mile long elevated boardwalk that will take the two of you over the dunes to the dog-friendly beach where
both of you can go for a dip in the inlet.
