Wag! Walkers know Tara Trail
Tara Trail is a lightly developed residential community to the west
of the New Smyrna Beach Airport on the other side of Turnbull
Bay. The neighborhood consists of single-family homes buried in a heavily
wooded area. The trees offer at least some semblance of privacy with some homes
more heavily wooded than others. Living
out here is as close to living in the country as you can get while still being
within ten minutes of essential amenities like grocery stores and gas stations.
If you need pet food or treats for your dog, there
are stores within a ten to fifteen-minute drive. Along with this, there are several parks and green spaces nearby. This
includes the beach where you and your dog can enjoy long walks on the sand or
if maybe surf if you have taught your pup to do so! There's never been a better time to hang ten with your playful pooch.
What is the terrain like in Tara Trail?
The terrain out here in Tara Trail is quiet and rural in nature with large yards and plenty of
shaded roads. Tara Trail is a tranquil
neighborhood with the only real traffic being during rush hour. You are more likely to see others out walking their dogs and local kids playing. Having said this, you should still keep a close eye out for traffic
and wear light-colored clothing to help motorists see you.
The one thing missing out here is sidewalks for you and your
dog to walk on which gives you an even
bigger reason to pay attention while the two of you are out for your walks. It
is much easier to prevent an accident than it is to try and recover from one.
Do
keep in mind that if there are plenty of kids playing. You should keep your dog
on a tight leash to prevent any type of incident
from occurring.
How many greenways are there in Tara Trail?
If you are lucky enough to have a home in Tara Trails, you are
living in the middle of a large green
space. That’s right! The entire community
sits in the middle of a large wooded area that encompasses Ward Higbees Trope
Grant and Daugherty's Todd Grant. The woods offer miles of trails in the shade
for you and your dog to hike on. They can also shelter the two of you from chilly winter winds.
If you are up for the drive, it's only a moderate drive to the beach where you will find soft and wet sand to walk on. The soft
sand is challenging. Use it for your outbound leg and then use the
wet sand for the journey back to your starting
point. Make sure both of you take out time to go for a nice, cool swim in the waves!
