Rio Del Mar is a small enclave of large luxurious homes on Rio
Del Mar Drive, a quiet cul-de-sac off of S Riverside Drive to the west and sitting on
the banks of the Indian River North. During the day, you can watch the boats cruising
by on the water during the hot summer months. From the banks, you
can also see Smyrna Yacht Club on Yacht Club Island.
Living here puts you close to a small strip mall along with
several chain restaurants. It also puts you close to the center of town where
you will find plenty of shopping opportunities, places to eat, bars, and more. If you take
the South Causeway over the peninsula, you will find
more of the same.
On the other side of the river is the Mosquito Lagoon

What is the terrain like in Rio Del Mar?
US-1 is three blocks to the west and is a bustling highway. It's also one of the main north-south highways on the east coast that isn't an
interstate. As a main road, US-1 is
almost always busy, except for maybe in the wee hours of the morning. If you
must walk your dog across or along the highway, be sure you keep them on a short
leash.
The area around the cul-de-sac tends to pretty quiet, most of
the time, and there are plenty of residential streets
for the two of you to walk on. However, since most of the streets come up short
in the sidewalk department, the two of you will have to settle for walking on

To the north is Spruce Creek Preserve, a massive 1,600-acre
nature preserve with miles of trails for the two of you to hike. The trails
take you all the way to Rose Bay and back if you have the stamina for the distance.

perfect place to go for your daily walks. It's only a ten-minute drive over the
causeway and offers you plenty of room for exercise. Use the dry sand to give everyone's
leg muscles a good workout and then wet sand for the return trip to let your
