Wag! Walkers know Oliver Estates
Oliver Estate is a modest community of single-family homes off of SR-44 and close to the I-95 interchange. Living here is ideal for those who commute
to the Cape for work or up into Daytona Beach. You can also use I-95 to reach I-4
for the daily drive into Orlando. Of course, you are only ten minutes from central
New Smyrna Beach where you can find the amenities you need like great places to
eat, pet supply stores, and grocery stores.
Living here puts you close to large green spaces such as Otter
Park North and South, the Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve, the beach, and many
others. You and your dog should never want for great places to walk. Many of them offer plenty of shade to help keep you out of
the blazing summer sunshine and a little
cooler if you wait until later in the day to venture out.
What is the terrain like in Oliver Estates?
One of the great things about living out here is that, despite its proximity to the highway, it's still a relatively quiet place to
live. Being a residential area, most of the traffic you are likely to see is
during the usual rush hours. Beyond this, there really
isn't much of a reason for anyone else to be here.
The one thing missing seems to be sidewalks for the two of
you to utilize. This means you are relegated to walking on
the streets, which means being extra careful and keeping an eye on
traffic. Remember, the motorists aren't looking for you, so it's up to you to keep
an eye on traffic and make sure you stay out
of their way.
Keep in mind that the ground is flat, but what it lacks in challenge such as hills, it makes up for in the
number of blocks you have to walk around.
How many greenways are there in Oliver Estates?
Immediately to the south, there is a large area of woods that
is sparsely populated with a few homes but offers a chance
to walk along roads buried deep in the dense woods
where it is usually a little cooler.
A little further to the south is the New Smyrna Beach Dog
Park. This popular park has separate
sections for large and small breeds with plenty of room for them to run. Each section has a water fountain for the dogs to stay
hydrated. There are plenty of shade trees for them to get out of the sun and a covered
pavilion for the humans to hang out under.
The beach is only fifteen minutes to the east and offers both
of you a fabulous place to go for walks out in the fresh air and sunshine.
While you might not make it out there every day, it's still a great place to take
long walks on the weekend.
