Wag! Walkers know Clouser
Clouser is a heavily wooded neighborhood next to the rail yard
just off SR-44. The woods give the area a feeling
of being out in the country when, in all
reality, you are only five minutes from the heart of the city where you can find
a fantastic selection of restaurants to choose from, plenty of retail shopping,
pet supplies, and anything else you might need.
Being this far from town helps keep the noise down and, of course,
you will get used to the rail yard very quickly. Living here also puts you close to the beach where you can drive out on the sand and then
take your dog for a walk or play in the ocean. It's the perfect place to go for
an early morning walk on a hot summer day before the sun has had a chance to make everything too hot.
What is the terrain like in Clouser?
You could be fooled into thinking you are in the country in Clouser. The few homes here are surrounded by dense woods on all sides with
all the homes on S Myrtle Avenue. You won't
see much in the way of traffic here as the only reason to be on this road is if
you live in the area. The same applies to pedestrians as the only traffic you are likely to see are other people out walking their pets.
However, S Myrtle Avenue makes an excellent place to take your
dog for a walk. The entire street from end to end has a wide sidewalk for you
to use and a nice grass berm.
Much of the sidewalk is protected by
shade trees which will be a big help on those 90-degree summer days. When the
days are this hot, you should be taking your walks early in the morning before things
heat up.
How many greenways are there in Clouser?
There are a few areas of woods nearby with trails where you
and your dog can go for shady walks, but they are very limited in depth. For a
real hike, you need to hop in the car and cruise up to the Doris Leeper Spruce Creek
Preserve. This is a great place to take
your dog out for walks as there are miles of trails to hike along, waterways to explore, and an unlimited supply of wildlife.
Then, of course, there
is the beach to the east, but the difference
is night and day. The biggest difference is
the amount of traffic you will have to deal with as cars are allowed
to drive on the sand. The best time of day to visit the coast with your
dog and go for a walk is during the early
morning hours before it has time
to fill up and the sun becomes too warm.
