Wag! Walkers know Riverfront Estates
Riverfront Estates sits between US-1 and the
Indian River North. It is home to Boston Whaler Inc., a manufacturer
of large pleasure boats and a small community of older homes on Jones Fish Camp
Road in the southern half of the area. There are several spots close to the
river where everything is laid in for homes to be built, but have yet to be constructed.
On the east side of US-1 is the Florida Roadhouse, a
combination restaurant and bar that offers comfort foods along with both food and
drink happy hours. Beyond this, if you need supplies, the nearest grocery store
is six minutes to the north in Edgewater Commons. This shopping plaza is anchored
by a Publix supermarket and a Walgreens. The Publix carries a large selection
of premium brand dog foods and treats that should keep your pup happy. For anything
more, you must go further into town.
What is the terrain like in Riverfront Estates?
The terrain in Riverfront Estates is mostly heavy woods, but
at the northern edge of the community is the Boston Whaler boat manufacturer. The
terrain around it is mostly paved, but at the same time, the company has ensured that there are plenty of open areas of grass. Jones Fish Camp Riad is a narrow-paved
road that leads past the few older homes to the edge of the river. Most of this
area, while still covered in dense woods, is expected to be part of a much larger
housing development in the future.
Living along Jones Fish Camp Road puts you far enough away from
the highway that you aren't likely to hear much of the traffic noise. This road may not have sidewalks, but there is plenty of grass running along both sides that
you can use instead. The grass will be easier on your pooch's paws and never gets as
hot as the pavement.
How many greenways are there in Riverfront Estates?
With the exception of the Boston Whaler facility and the
houses, the entire area is one vast green space covered in dense woods. There are
several trails running through them for you and your dog to explore in the cool
shade of the trees. You can hike all the way to the river on Jones Fish Camp Road
or follow it along the riverbank to its end and back. It will make a relaxing
walk for both of you.
If you are willing to cross US-1 with your dog, there are more
dense woods on the west side of it to explore. Much of this area has been
marked for development with areas where the trees have been stripped in long
lines as if to build streets for future development. Depending on how ambitious
the two of you are, you can hike for miles, deep
into the woods. The only thing you have to look out for is the wide variety of
wildlife in the area.
