Wag! Walkers know Crows Bluff Community Center
The Crows Bluff Community
Center is a residential area on Co Road 42 in the Lake Mack-Forest Hills
subdivision to the west of town. Many of the homes are either
manufactured homes or mobile homes, but there are a few stick-built homes here
as well. One of the most common reasons people give for living in this area is the ability
to purchase a large plot of land instead of a tiny space like many
developments offer.
Fortunately, there is a small grocery store and gas station
nearby where you can pick up most
essential items and you may even be able to find food for your dog until you can
get in town. Speaking of town, it's a
closer than you might think! The central shopping district is only a fifteen-minute
drive and you will find a host of small stores, a Walmart
Supercenter, a Winn Dixie supermarket, and a Pet Supermarket where you can find
just about anything your pup could ever want.
What is the terrain like in Crows Bluff Community Center?
Just because this neighborhood places you squarely "out in the country," it doesn't mean you won't have to deal with traffic. Many of those who choose to
live in this neighborhood commute into town for work, so morning and evening rush hours
still tend to be pretty busy.
There are very few paved roads within the community, which actually works to your advantage as paved
surfaces can be very hard on your pup's paws. Paved surfaces can reach
temperatures in excess of 130°F, which is
hot enough to cause some damage that you'll certainly want to avoid. The sand might be warm to the touch, but rarely does it ever
get hot enough to damage your pup's paws.
It's also far easier for both of you to
walk on, especially if you like to go for long walks together in the fresh air
and sunshine. With some small variations in terrain, this may also provide more exciting walks.
How many greenways are there in Crows Bluff Community Center?
To the north is a vast area of woods that is part of the Ocala
National Forest. You and your dog will find plenty of trails to walk around in
here. There are literally hundreds of
lakes, creeks, rivers, and more for the two of you to search for along
with an endless list of animals such as gators, deer, black bears, and other critters to
keep an eye out for. The one thing to
keep in mind is that the forest is their
home and the two of you are visitors. Respect any wildlife and wildlife habitats!
To the south of the community is a much smaller area of
woods and a creek, but much of this area is wetlands and is not the best place to
take your dog. If you really
want to do something different, hop in the car and take US-92 until it ends at Daytona Beach.
