Wag! Walkers know Ortona Revised
Ortona Revised is an extended
community of large, expensive homes along
the east bank of the Halifax River over on the beachside. It runs along N. Halifax Ave. between Euclid and just north of Morningside. The homes here have private pools and their own docks out into the river.
Living
here puts you within two blocks of the beach and A1A where you will find many outstanding
restaurants serving everything from seafood to steaks. For those of
you who like to spend the nights clubbing, beachside is where it's at! There
are several clubs to choose from, each with its own
style and music. If you are looking for dog parks or pet supply stores, then a
trip back over to the mainland will be necessary.
As for the weather here, how
can you beat 50 degrees in January? How about 90 to 100 degrees in the summer
and endless beautiful blue skies?
What is the terrain like in Ortona Revised?
The terrain here is suburban with large and medium homes, long
blocks, and plenty of sidewalks for you to go strolling along. While this
might sound a bit boring, if you try walking around different blocks as frequently as possible, you can at
least put a little more fun into your walks.
The
more frequently you change your routes, the more new smells your pup gets to explore and the more excited they will be to go out on their much-needed walks.
Keep in
mind that during the summer months, the pavement is going to be far too hot for your dog to walk on. Be sure to test it first by laying the back
of your hand on the pavement. If you cannot hold it there for at least ten seconds,
it is too hot for your dog to walk on safely! Start taking your walks earlier in the
morning before things start to heat up.
How many greenways are there in Ortona Revised?
The largest green
space in the area is the World's Most
Famous Beach. The shores of the Atlantic Ocean run all the way up and down the
eastern seaboard, but the best of it is the beach right here in Daytona.
The
sand is spectacularly white, carefully maintained, and kept clean by the
beach rangers. It is a good place to take
care of getting your daily workout in.
Every step you take in the soft sand makes your leg muscles work
much harder. Thankfully, you can use the wet hard-packed sand to walk back on. While
it still requires a little effort to walk on, it is much easier than the soft sand.
As an added bonus, you can kick off your
socks and shoes and join your pup in playing in the surf. It's a great way to cool
your feet and let your muscles cool down on your way home!
