Pelican Bay and on the south side of Daytona International Airport. Living here
means being far enough away from the hustle and bustle to enjoy a little peace
but close enough to it that you can be in the thick of it in minutes. You can be at the Volusia Mall in ten minutes on a good
day and at Daytona International Speedway in fifteen unless the races are going
on, in which case, it is going to take a lot longer to get there or anywhere
else.
If you like to eat out, there are plenty
of excellent restaurants within driving distance serving everything from seafood
to spaghetti. Or, if you like to dance the night
away, there are a number of trendy nightclubs over on the beachside. In June through September, the
temperatures hover in the 90s with high humidity, perfect for warm weather lovers.

The terrain is much like you might expect in a planned community. There is a large lake
in the middle of Forest Lake with a water fountain and a
walking trail running all the way around it. You and your pooch are welcome to use the
trail for your walks, but your pup must be
on a leash and cleaned up after.
Beyond this, the two of you can use the sidewalks
to take you into neighboring communities to extend your walks and make them
more interesting. Start out slow to give
your dog's paws time to grow calluses that will protect them from the rough
surface of the sidewalks when you are ready to move on to longer walks. During
the months when the daytime temperatures are in the 90s, be sure you take your walks in the early morning hours
while the sidewalks are still cool and

see a brown bear, whitetail deer, the occasional alligator, bald eagles, and
many others as long as you are quiet! Just remember to give the local wildlife a wide berth!
