Wag! Walkers know Brazell
Brazell is a community of single-family homes located across
the street from Bethune Point Park and just down the road from the Halifax
Marina. Living here comes with its own unique set of advantages. Not only do
you have a park right across the street, but you are within driving distance of
the many fantastic restaurants, both on the mainland side and the beachside.
For
those who like the nightlife, there are plenty of nightclubs all up and down
the beach to party in. Most have beach decks that let you take the fun outside.
Beyond the park right across the street, you can always take your pup for a ride
in the car to the beach for long walks.
With summer temperatures in the 90s, keep in mind that the soft, dry sand can be very hot
to the touch and hot enough to cause discomfort and burns to sensitive puppy paws.
What is the terrain like in Brazell?
Living here means living with primarily urban terrain. In other words, there are lots of sidewalks for you and Fido to walk on. You can walk for miles on the
sidewalks, visit other neighborhoods, and
take long or short walks as needed. Not only are these walks good for your pup's leg muscles,
but the pavement will help keep their claws trim.
However, if your dog is new to
walking on pavement, there are a couple
of things you should know. First, be sure to give their paws plenty of time to
toughen up before going too far. Second, in the summer months, take your walks
in the early morning when things are cool.
You can take Fido for walks in Bethune Point Park for a break from the pavement
and spend a little time playing with them there. It will be good for both of you! The grass will also be a lot easier on your dog's joints and paws.
How many greenways are there in Brazell?
The nearest green space is Bethune Point Park which is home
to tennis courts, basketball courts, and athletic fields. It also features a
walking trail and plenty of open grassy areas for the two of you to run around
on.
Just down the road, there is a small copse of woods and an
island out in the Halifax River for the two of you to run around on and enjoy some
one-on-one time.
If you don't mind a short drive to the west and out of town, there
are over 30,000 acres of prime Florida forest, cypress swamps, and pine-palmetto
for you and your playful pooch to wander around in.
There are miles of trails for both of you to explore here. Officially known as the
Tomoka Wildlife Management Area and Tiger Bay State Forest, this area is home
to hundreds of birds, whitetail deer, black bears, bobcats, and possibly
the occasional gator.
