Wag! Walkers know Bodifield
Bodifield is a small cul-de-sac community of large, well-established
homes on Sunrise Street, which connects directly to Indian River Drive. While the
neighborhood might be relatively tranquil, on the other side of the wall at the
west end and behind the houses is US-1. Before I-95 was built, US-1 was the main
highway running from Fort Kent, Maine down the east coast to its end in Key West. With
this in mind, you should expect to be dealing with a fair amount of traffic noise
from this bustling highway.
There is a small price to pay for living in such a beautiful
spot with a spectacular view of the Indian River. The price is the lack of
shopping amenities within walking distance. The only thing this close is Darlene's Barbershop.
If you like Vietnamese food and are up for a fifteen-minute walk, you simply
must try the food at Papasan's Vietnamese Café on Bronson Boulevard.
What is the terrain like in Bodifield?
Sunrise Street might be quiet all day long as there isn't much in the way of traffic making its way through. Indian River Road makes an
excellent place to take your dog out for walks because you can use the wide
grass berm along the riverbank. Along with being the edge of the river, there
are several private docks jutting out into the water.
The one thing you will not find along Indian River Road is anything
in the way of sidewalks for you and your dog to walk on, so unless you stick
to the grass berm, you will both be walking on the road. Thankfully, the terrain is flat and has no hills to climb. No matter where you go
for your walks, however, be sure you keep your dog on a short leash. It will be helpful if you happen to run into any pedestrians along the way.
How many greenways are there in Bodifield?
If you count the grass along the riverbank as green space, then you have the perfect place at the end of the street to take
your dog out for long walks. The two of you can follow this berm for miles in either
direction.
On the other hand, if you are looking for a slightly larger
place to visit, Cocoa Riverfront Park and Lee Werner Park
are a ten to twenty-minute drive from the end of Sunrise Street. There
is plenty of open space for you and your dog to romp around on. Be sure you
keep your pooch on a leash and clean up any messes they leave behind.
For even more space than this, you might want to take the twenty-five-minute
drive to the Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach. From there, the two of you can go
for long walks on the beach during a few hours out of the day.
