Wag! Walkers know Cocoa Ocean Beach Condo
Don't let the name of this neighborhood fool you. There are no condos in the Cocoa Ocean Beach
Condo community. It is, in fact, a community of upscale family homes between Ocean Beach Boulevard and North Banana River Road. The area is split down the middle by A1A, one of the busiest
north-south roads in town. Living here, you can walk to the beach in less than
ten minutes and that includes going past
the condos and through the scrub to the sand.
Two and a half blocks to the south is
the West Cocoa Beach Causeway where you and your family can shop for just about
anything you need on a daily basis. This
includes a Winn-Dixie Supermarket where you can buy food for the entire family,
including the one with paws. Along this stretch
of road, you will also find a selection of local and chain restaurants, bars,
and the Florida Surf Museum.
What is the terrain like in Cocoa Ocean Beach Condo?
While there are sidewalks along all three north-south roads
for you and your dog to use, you won't find any on the residential streets themselves.
This leaves you and Fido no choice but
to take your walks on the roads where you will be sharing the space with whatever
traffic happens to be going by. However, you shouldn't encounter and steep hills to navigate as you walk through the area.
All three of the north-south roads are considered
to be major thoroughfares upon which the
traffic during the day tends to be bustling from sunrise to sunset. Unless your
dog is used to the sights, sounds, and smells of heavy traffic, you may not want
to go walking during the busiest times of the day. If you must, be sure you are
using a short leash to maintain
maximum control over your pooch in the event they are startled.
How many greenways are there in Cocoa Ocean Beach Condo?
The nearest green space is a few minutes to the
east. In Cocoa Beach, most areas of the beaches are open to
dogs from 6AM to 10AM and 5PM to 7PM which gives the two of you no excuse
for not getting out there and enjoying the sunshine while getting
in your daily exercise at the same time. The best time of day for the two of
you to walk the sandy dunes is early in the morning when the only other people out
there are other dog walkers.
If you prefer a fenced-in place where your dog can run
around off leash, the Cocoa Beach Public Dog Park is just the spot. Covering almost
three-quarters of an acre, the park has separate areas for small and large
breeds where they can play without fear. Each section is equipped with a water
hose you can use to keep your pooch hydrated and plenty of shade.
