Wag! Walkers know Washington Townhomes
The Washington Townhomes sit on Washington Avenue, close to North Atlantic Avenue. Across the street is a large apartment complex with plenty of
grass where you and your dog might find a little space to run around. Each of
the townhouses has its own fenced-in backyard
with just enough room for your pooch to run about and go potty, but that’s about all you get!
While there may not be much in the way of big-box retailers
here, there is a small food and general store on the corner of Jefferson and
North Atlantic. You should be able to find most of the essential items you need
here. However, if you need more than this, you'll have to go south to the
West Cocoa Beach Causeway. From the beach, over
the river, and into Merritt Island, you should
be able to find everything you and your family need for your day to day life.
What is the terrain like in Washington Townhomes?
Washington Avenue is likely to be a busy road during the morning
and afternoon rush hours and especially during the school year with the Cape
View Elementary School two blocks to the east. You can avoid most of this traffic if you get up early and take your
dog out for their walks before the morning rush hour starts. Another important
tip is to head south and deeper into the residential areas where the traffic is
lighter during most of the day and the terrain is flat enough to make your strolls easy for even the laziest pups.
You and your pooch should be able to make good use of
the sidewalks running along most of the streets. If both of you are up for the challenge,
the City Center, Cape Canaveral, and Sandpiper Park complex is only four blocks to
the south. No matter where you take your dog for their walks, be
sure you keep them on a short leash to avoid running afoul of any traffic.
How many greenways are there in Washington Townhomes?
Keep in mind that most of the public parks in the city are open to
dogs who are on a leash, which means that the complex of City Center, Cape Canaveral, and Sandpiper Parks make a great place to visit. This area has two large baseball fields, lots
of grass for you and your dog to have fun on, basketball courts, and public
restrooms.
If you are looking for an off-leash dog park, the nearest one
is only a few minutes to the south in Cocoa Beach. The Cocoa Beach Public Dog Park
is a 32,000 square foot facility with separate areas for small and large
dogs, water in each area, and
plenty of seating to relax on in the shade. Here, you
will also find direct access to the beaches as dogs are allowed
to enjoy walking in the sand and surf in Cocoa Beach, making it a better area for dog lovers!
