Wag! Walkers know Spindrift Townhouses
The Spindrift Townhouses sit along Canaveral Beach Boulevard, close to
the intersection with East Central Boulevard. The townhouses have small backyards with enough
room for your dog to run around in and go potty and, as a bonus, there are plenty
of shade trees to keep the sun at bay. The townhomes, however, share
a single large driveway instead of each having their own.
For quick shopping when you have a few things you need,
there is a small grocery store to the west. If you need more than that can offer, the main shopping area in town is along the West Cocoa Beach Causeway, a mere ten-minute drive south on North Atlantic Avenue.
If you're hoping to take your pooch along the coast, Cape Canaveral has unfortunately made doing so illegal, likely to keep the area clean for visitors. Instead, the city passed an ordinance that
opened the city parks to dogs as long as they are on leashes!
What is the terrain like in Spindrift Townhouses?
Canaveral Beach Boulevard tends to be bustling during most of the
day as it is often used as a shortcut from Canaveral Boulevard to East Central Boulevard. The addition of school buses makes the congestion
even worse! Most will try to avoid walking their dogs during these hours to
save them the stress of walking close to heavy traffic.
Thankfully, there are plenty of sidewalks and residential areas
for the two of you to explore along flat terrain that is easy to navigate for most people and pups. Most have a nice grass berm for your dog to walk
on instead of the pavement, which they are sure to appreciate, especially during
the summer months. During this time of year, the pavement can become hot enough to burn
the pads on your dog's paws severely. To avoid both the heavy traffic and
scorching hot concrete, you can take your pooch for their walks early in the
morning!
How many greenways are there in Spindrift Townhouses?
With most city parks open to dogs, you have several to choose from in this neighborhood! The nearest is Cherie Down Park on Ridgewood Avenue, less than five minutes away. There
is plenty of parking, picnic pavilions, beach access for those who go
around on two legs, and a vast field for you and your dog to make good use of.
Not everyone wants their dog to have to live on a leash when
they go to the park. For an off-leash experience, a fifteen-minute drive south will
take you to the Cocoa Beach Public Dog Park. It's the only one in the area and
covers 32,000 square feet, divided into areas for large and small dogs. Each area provides a water hose for the pooch and chairs in the shade for you and the rest
of the dog owners to enjoy while your playful pups are off getting to know one another.
