Wag! Walkers know Sea Era Patio Homes
The Sea Era Patio Homes sit on Ridgewood Avenue between Tyler and
Harrison Avenues. You'll find it less than a block from the beach. For humans, this is a great
location because you can be on the coast itself in less than two minutes, though you'll have to keep the pup at home for this day trip. Since you aren't directly on
the beach, you have the condo that is blocking the chilly winter winds for you.
If you take Harrison over to Astronaut Boulevard, you will find a few restaurants and small businesses. However, if you take
this road south, it will take you past a Publix
Supermarket where you can buy food for every member of your family, including the
one with the waggly tail.
There are several city parks within walking and driving
distance of the Sea Era Patio Homes where you and your dog are welcome to come
and play any time you want.
What is the terrain like in Sea Era Patio Homes?
As the main road running along the east coast of Merritt Island,
Ridgewood Avenue tends to be bustling from early in the morning until late at
night. Traffic here ranges from tourists making use of the many condos, hotels,
and vacation rental properties along the
beach and in town to school buses and delivery trucks. Along with all of this,
you have to add in both morning and evening rush hours.
Unless your dog is used
to walking close to this type of traffic, you might want to consider crossing over Ridgewood and taking your
dog for walks in the various residential areas instead. Most of the blocks have sidewalks
you can use and far less traffic than out on Ridgewood. The use of a short
leash is also recommended, but the flat terrain will make it easy for pups of any ability level to wander and explore, so long as you stick to the shady parts of the neighborhood.
How many greenways are there in Sea Era Patio Homes?
Good news! All city parks are dog-friendly, thanks to an ordinance
passed by the city in 2018. The ordinance states that all dogs must be on a leash and you are required to pick up
after them, but enjoying the space makes it worth the effort!
The nearest park is Sandpiper Park, one block to the west on
Harrison Avenue. Here, you and your dog can enjoy the shade, the grass, and the
walking trail that takes you to Canaveral City Park and the Cape Canaveral Baseball
Field.
Both of these parks offer you and your dog plenty of grass and lots of shade trees to help keep you cooled down on a hot summer day. Five minutes
north is Cherie Down Park, a large grassy park with plenty of parking and public
restrooms. The park also offers direct access to the beach for the rest of your
family. You just can't take your dog walking on the sand!
