Wag! Walkers know Ocean View
Ocean View is a small neighborhood of townhomes with an
entrance on North Atlantic Avenue. Living here puts you almost as far north as you
can live in Cape Canaveral. A little further north and you will be in amongst
the port support buildings and then the port itself! The community is surrounded by trees and sits on a cul-de-sac
that plays a major role in keeping the
traffic outside your front door to a minimum.
Being this far north puts you close to a selection of restaurants
and a few small strip malls over on A1A. However, if you are looking to do your weekly
shopping, you should plan to drive down to the West Cocoa Beach Causeway to the
south. On your way there, you will pass a Publix Supermarket where you can stock
up on food for everyone in your family. Yes, that includes the one with the cold, wet nose!
What is the terrain like in Ocean View?
Within Ocean View, you
will never have to deal with much in the way of traffic which is one of the
main benefits of living on a cul-de-sac. However, North Atlantic which is at the end of the road and feeds into
the neighborhood can be a very busy road
with traffic going to and coming from the port. Most of this traffic is from those
who work in the area as the guests tend to use A1A
coming from the south or the west over the Banana River.
On the west of North Atlantic,
there is a broad paved sidewalk that is ideal for you and your dog to go walking
on. In some places, it is set back from the road by a grass berm and, in others, it is
right next to the road. You must keep your dog on a short leash when walking here
for their safety if they should happen to try and dart out into the
traffic.
How many greenways are there in Ocean View?
You should be able to take your dog out into the woods around
the neighborhood for short walks in the shade, but since most of the city's parks
are dog-friendly and are fitted with waste bag dispensers and receptacles for your use, be sure to do so! You are
also required to keep your dog on a leash at all times in city parks.
There are several parks in the area with the closest to you being
a few minutes to the west on the banks of the Banana River. Banana River Park
is perfect for those times when you want to run around uninterrupted as the
park offers a vast area of grass that is large enough for a soccer pitch in the
northern section with shuffleboard courts and a 9-hole putting green.
Next door is the Manatee Sanctuary Park which offers a paved walking trail that runs around the park. Of course, there is plenty of grass, picnic pavilions, and public restrooms.
