Diamond Lake
Pick up your pup's leash and head to Diamond Lake for a dogtastic hike around this natural lake. The walk is about 6 miles long and a snifftastic exploration at the water’s edge of the very well stocked fishing lake. A free boat launch makes it easy to launch your canoe for a little glide around the lake with you pup. Stay at the Newport/Little Diamond Lake KOA Campground while in the area. The campground has great hiking trails and Frisbee golf, as well as a dog park for your fur baby to run and play off leash to his heart's content.

Newport City Center

Bring your pooch and enjoy a pawsome stroll among the trees throughout the park. Bring a picnic along and enjoy a fun lunch or dinner in the open air before returning home. The TJ Kelly Park has concrete pathways throughout and stone park benches for a quick rest or a quiet lunch break outside. The wide open grassy lawn space makes a wonderful place for a game of fetch or frisbee after your walk, and the beautiful fountain here is pawsome to see.

Oldtown
Cary Creek Game Management Area is a shallow 400-acre lake and surrounding marsh area that is still in its natural state in the northwest corner of Idaho. With no formal trails, there's still opportunity for some snifftastic walks with your pooch and some off-leash time as you get a little exercise and enjoy watching for the bald eagles and osprey. The Riley Creek Recreation Area, situated on the banks of the Pend Oreille River, has ample space to enjoy a pawsome leashed walk throughout the scenic beauty of the area as you enjoy time outside and the chance to encounter deer.

Take your happy pup on a leashed walk at Sullivan Point. From the north end of the lake, you can pick up the Sullivan Nature Trail, a .6-mile trail with good signage that explains various natural sights. Watch for signs of the bighorn sheep that live in the area as you enjoy your walk. Your pup will enjoy a pawsome walk through the damp forest that opens into an area overlooking the lake. Take your lunch along and enjoy a peaceful break on one of the benches as you relax and watch the birds.
