Village Park
Village Park in Anacortes, Washington contains the most residential communities in the city. This popular area is home to Volunteer Park, a park made by volunteers in the area, with baseball and soccer fields, open grass areas, a wetlands area, playgrounds, and picnic shelters for residents. Your dog is welcome to join you on his leash to visit some families at the playground or watch a ball game. Nearby, the 1.5-acre Ace of Hearts Rotary Dog Park is sure to delight your pup. This park is fenced-in with shaded areas, plenty of space to run, and water features for your dog to grab a drink or splash around.

Fidalgo Bay
This neighborhood is right on the Fidalgo Bay, so you can spend a whole day splashing around in the water or enjoying the sights. But this neighborhood is also the home of the Tommy Thompson Trail, one of the Rails-to-Trails organization’s popular trails. Your dog is welcome on his leash here, and the paved ground will make it convenient for both of you. This trail is one of the most scenic you’ll find, with beautiful views of the water and a quiet atmosphere. Spend the day walking the full trail with your pooch, or come back daily for quick walks through Anacortes. The 3.3-mile trail is sure to become a favorite spot!

Whidbey Island
About 30 minutes south of Anacortes is Whidbey Island in Oak Harbor. This area is the home of a U.S. Naval Hospital and Air Station, but it’s also a beautiful waterfront location close to business and shopping areas. The area even has its own dog park, Clover Valley Dog Park, where pups can go unleashed in the fenced-in area. There are wooded areas surrounding the quiet, serene park, which also has seating areas for dog owners. If you’re just visiting the area, you can also find some pet-friendly hotels close by in Oak Harbor’s city center, just a couple of miles away.

City Center
A 26-minute drive from Anacortes brings you to City Center of Mount Vernon, Washington. This area contains much of the shopping areas and activities of Mount Vernon, including dog-friendly places for you and Fido to visit together. The neighborhood even has several pet-friendly hotels in the area that are perfect places to stay if you’re just visiting the area. Here, you can take a trip to PETCO with your pup in tow. Visit Optimum Dog for obedience training from trainers with decades of experience. There’s also a PetSmart Training facility in the neighborhood, so you have some great options for getting your dog trained with some paw-friendly tactics!
Big Lake
If you drive a few minutes east from Mount Vernon’s City Center, you’ll come to the Big Lake area of the city. In addition to being the home of the popular Barney Lake, this area also has Bakerview Park. This charming park has playgrounds, a skate park, sporting fields and courts, and walking areas where your pooch can join you for daily walks on his leash. You can also bring him to Bakerview Dog Park, located within the park. This fenced-in area is the perfect place to get your pup socialized, exercised, and primed for some fun! And, there’s even some toys and shaded areas for your pooch to enjoy.
