Capitol Hill

Capitol Hill

Just under 25 miles from Lake Point is Capitol Hill in Salt Lake City, Utah. Memory Grove Off-Leash Area at Freedom Trail is one of the most paw-pular spots in the city for doggos and their owners to enjoy a slice of outdoor life. The area isn’t fenced, but your well-behaved dog has plenty of space to roam, and they can even explore the creek. Your leashed dog is also welcome at Brigham Young Historic Park, which has lots of beautiful grass and space to walk through the park and enjoy the memorials. Bring your appetite to Em’s Restaurant, a local favorite with a dog-friendly outdoor patio.

Downtown

Downtown

Downtown Salt Lake City is about 24 miles from Lake Point and this area is sure to keep your pooch howling to come back with its parks, restaurants, and more. Be sure to visit Pioneer Park, a beautiful outdoor oasis that looks beautiful in every season. The park -- in addition to hosting seasonal Farmer’s Markets, sporting events, and more -- has its own dog park. The small but fully fenced area is a grr-eat place for your pooch to socialize. If you work up an appetite, you can head to Spitz SLC with your dog. Pull up a seat on the sidewalk patio tables and enjoy some Mediterranean-style favorites.

Canyon Rim

Canyon Rim

If your pooch likes hiking, they'll go barking mad for a trip to Parley's Historic Nature Park in Salt Lake City's Canyon Rim neighborhood! The trail here runs along a gorgeous, serene river, and doggos have access to the water at several points along the route. Your furbaby is sure to have a whale of a time splashing about in the shallow water! Not only that, but the trail passes several ruins dating all the way back to the 1800s. Your pooch will need to be leashed on the trail, however. Be warned, though -- bug spray is a must in the summer.

Magna Township

Magna Township

One of those is the Magna Township area of Magna, Utah, which stretches from the west end of Magna to the shore of the Great Salt Lake. Here, you and your dog can visit the Great Salt Lake State Marina, a pup-ular place for dogs and their humans! Leashed pups are welcome to hang out at the marina, enjoy the beautiful views, watch the ships, and even partake in dog-friendly cruises. Be sure to check with the marina for availability.
