West Logan
West Logan is where you’ll find Lake Logan State Park, a beautiful recreational area that offers everything from camping to fishing. The park has over 300 acres that you and your leashed dog are welcome to explore! Have a picnic, fish for some of the lake’s catfish, bluegill, and more, or walk the trails with Spot. The park is even open during the winter months for some sledding and ice fishing! Nearby is the Hocking Hills Canoe Livery, which lets you rent a boat for a day of fun and relaxation with your pooch. The livery also has a campground that welcomes dogs.

Hocking Hills
The Hocking Hills area of Logan is the home of Hocking Hills State Park, a massive 2,300-acre park that has just about everything you and your adventurous, outdoor-loving pup could want. Here, you’ll find some incredible hiking paths, amazing landscapes everywhere you go, picnic areas for a relaxing lunch in nature, and campgrounds if you want to spend some time here. The park also offers boat rentals, seasonal events, quiet fishing areas, and backpacking adventures! There are also some nearby campgrounds and rentals that welcome dogs and their owners if you want to stay somewhere outside of the state park.

Athens West Side
Just under 25 miles from Logan is the Athens West Side neighborhood in Athens, Ohio. This neighborhood houses the Athens County Fairgrounds and West State Street Park. This beautiful park has a dog park inside that allows your dog to run and play off his leash. Although small, the park has some fun agility equipment, shady spots, and plenty of open, grassy area to play in. If you get hungry after playtime, visit the Catalyst Café, which sits close to the Hocking River. This café serves up your favorite coffees and coffee drinks but also has pastries, sandwiches and more. The outdoor tables are for you and your pup!

Strouds Run
Over on the eastern side of Athens is Strouds Run, a neighborhood that’s a little over 25 miles from Logan. This neighborhood is where you’ll find the other dog park in town, known as East State Street Dog Park. The fenced-in park is right by Athens’ city pool and also has some fun obstacles for your dog to tackle while he plays. A little further down East State Street is a place where you can hop on the Hockhocking Adena Bikeway, a 20-mile trail that runs from Athens to Nelsonville. Your leashed furry friend is welcome to explore with you.
Downtown
About 19.5 miles north of Logan is Lancaster’s Downtown. This quaint area has several shops, a children’s museum, fun local restaurants and bars, and more to explore. But it also has a Rails-to-Trails multi-use trail, the Fairfield Heritage Trail, that winds through Lancaster with over nine miles. Your leashed dog is welcome to join you as you walk, jog, or even bike along the trail, which passes through parks, school areas, and cozy neighborhoods. Downtown also has some dog-friendly restaurants, like Cherry Street Pub, which has a lot of Southern-inspired dishes and some outdoor tables that welcome dogs to join you for a meal.
