Saranac Rd/ Champlain Ave
Visit a couple of pawesome parks in the Saranac Rd/ Champlain Ave neighborhood! Harold Walker Memorial Park is a woofderful outdoor recreation area where leashed pups are welcome. You and your pup will have a ball romping in the open field or relaxing in the shade of one of the many mature trees. There’s even a pond where your furry friend can splash around! In the fall, the pond is a pawsome place to sit on a bench and appreciate the stunning colors of the changing leaves. The park also has tennis and basketball courts, a playground for kiddos, benches, picnic tables and shuffleboard. This neighborhood is also home to the Hempstead Lake State Park!36

Lakeview
Locals love West Hempstead’s Halls Pond Park in the Lakeview neighborhood! This 11-acre green space is a pawesome place for a quiet walk with your leashed dog. There are tons of natural sights, sounds and smells for you and your pup to take in while you stroll around the park’s five-acre pond, which is commonly inhabited by ducks and geese. Be sure to explore the beautiful hardwood forest and its walking path on the north side of the park, too. The trees provide ample shade in warmer months and a furrific spectrum of color each autumn, making this a puptastic place for some exercise with your pooch!24

Long Beach Rd/ Baldwin Rd
Travel less than two miles east of West Hempstead and you’ll reach the village’s sister community of Hempstead!
