Grafton

The small town of Grafton includes private residences and a main street with a library, post office, and more. This community offers peaceful country lanes where you can go walking with Spot. To get out and explore nature, head north of town N Long Pond Road to the Mill Pond parking lot. Go hiking through the woods around the lake with your canine companion on Mill Pond Trail. This pathway is about half a mile long, and it connects with N Long Pond Road on northeastern side of the water. Dogs are welcome to join you here as long as you keep them on a leash up to six feet long and clean up after them.

Taconic Lake

Taconic Lake is a small bedroom community around the water's edge. This neighborhood is about 4.6 miles southeast of Grafton. You can stroll along peaceful roads near the water with your fur baby here. For a pawtastic hike, head east about 11 miles to the Taconic Crest Trail in the Taconic Ridge State Forest.  Follow the natural surface pathway north through the hardwood forest. Dogs are welcome to accompany you in this facility. You'll need to keep them under your control or on a leash and pick up their waste. Remember to bring plenty of water with you for this challenging hike.

Brunswick

The village of Brunswick is about eight miles southeast of Grafton. This rural area has private residences, farms, and a library. There are country roads where you and Fido can take a hike together. When you want to take your pup to an open space, head to Brunswick Vanderheyden Resevoir Park on North Lake Avenue. The 60-acre facility offers boats, picnic tables, and grills to residents of the town. Take a walk through the fields and along the shore here, but stay clear of the beach area. Dogs need to be on a leash. Make sure you bring water and waste bags when you visit this park.

Berlin

About ten miles southwest of Grafton, you'll find the town of Berlin. There are a few shops, a school, and single-family homes here. Go walking along country roads with your pup in this area. When you want to get out in nature, head to the Berlin State Forest, about 3.5 miles east of Berlin. There's a 2.2-mile trail loop here where you and your four-footed friend can go hiking. Dogs are allowed to come with you, provided that you keep them under control at all times. Remember to bring waste bags and clean up any droppings. You'll want to pack water for your trip.

Petersburg

Six miles east of town, the village of Petersburg includes some small businesses, a town hall, and single-family homes. This is a remote area that offers peaceful roads where you can take a stroll with your pooch. Just north of this community,  take your canine companion camping at Aqua Vista Campground. Set along the Little Hoosick River, this peaceful facility welcomes dogs. There are full hook-ups, pull throughs, and modem access available here. Let your pup play in the off-leash dog park that's on-site. Make sure to keep Fido under control and on a leash in other parts of the campground.
