Woodcroft Durham

Woodcroft Durham

Piney Wood Park is located in this Durham neighborhood, and offers sports fields, restrooms, and picnic areas complete with grills. More important for your pup though is the onsite dog park! The Piney Wood Dog Park features three different fenced in areas; there’s one for smaller breeds, another for larger breeds, and an open space for fetch, Frisbee throwing, and romping. Outside the fenced areas, there are water fountains for you and your pup. Per the park’s rules, be sure to have your dog on a leash while enjoying the areas of the park outside of the dog park.

American Tobacco

American Tobacco

The American Tobacco Trail is a railroad that has been turned into an extensive trail through the Rails to Trails Project. You can start the trail in the American Tobacco neighborhood at the terminus station on Jackie Robinson Drive near Blackwell Street, and take for it up to eleven miles throughout the city of Durham, where it is also referred to as part of the East Coast Greenway. The trail continues for over ten miles outside of Durham, where it travels through Wake and Chatham counties. Different parts of the trail feature varieties of surfaces, from paved areas to gravel. There are many neighborhoods the trail passes through, so look at a map to see the most convenient location to begin an adventure with your pup! If you want to catch a bite before you head out, try one of these dog friendly restaurants: Only Burger, Tyler’s Taproom, or Tobacco Road Sports Café.
