Ostrander
Columbia Heights has places for you and your pup to check out together. Sarna’s Classic Grill, located at 3939 University Avenue NE, is a pawesome dog-friendly restaurant. This eatery offers a variety of sandwiches and burgers. You and your pooch are welcome to chow down at one of their outdoor tables. Fancy something a little different? Head to Filfallah, which serves scrumptious Mediterranean cuisine. This dog-friendly restaurant has twelve outdoor dining tables just waiting for you and your buddy. After you've had a good meal, work it off at any of the city’s several public outdoor areas that welcome you and your doggo. Prestemon Park, located at 3900 NE McKinley, has a quiet walking path on which you and your leashed pup may stroll.

Melody Manor
Fridley is located just four miles north of Columbia Heights. Locke County Dog Park is a feature of the larger Locke County Park. Located near the quiet, residential neighborhood of Melody Manor, the park can be accessed through the University Avenue service road. This furrific dog run has a fully fenced, one-acre space for all dogs of any size to run leash-free. Careful though -- there's no separate area for smaller dogs. The surface is wood chips, and mature trees within the space provide ample shade. Water is available nearby. The County Park also has many walking paths, picnic areas, and open spaces for a leashed doggo and their person to check out.

Bunker Hills
Andover is sixteen miles north of Columbia Heights. Bunker Hills Regional Dog Park is located at 133rd Street This dog park is a fully fenced enclosure with a separate area set aside for the smaller dogs. There is no water available on-site, but doggie bags are supplied. The terrain of this dog park is mostly grass with patches of dirt. There are plenty of trees within the confines of the dog park. Picnic tables give the human companions a place to sit and chat for bit while their pups play. There are a couple of walking trails for people and their leashed pups to explore together.

East Isles
Minneapolis is just five miles south of Columbia Heights, and its dog-friendly amenities are well worth the short drive. It has seven city dog parks. All seven parks operate between the hours of 6 a.m until midnight. A permit from the City must be purchased before visiting. Fur-tunately, non-residents may purchase a daily pass online for $5! Only one dog park -- Lake of the Isles Dog Park, in Minneapolis' scenic waterside East Isles neighborhood -- has a separate area for smaller pooches. Minneapolis has many hotels that will welcome a visiting person with a pup. The Grand Hotel Minneapolis, located at 615 2nd Avenue S., welcomes two dogs of any size to stay for no additional charge.
Lowertown
Saint Paul is ten miles southeast of Columbia Heights. St. Paul is a thriving large city with four off-leash dog parks for you and your pup to visit. Lowertown Dog Park, in particular, is a paw-fect place to let your furry friend run free! This fully-fenced dog park is located on N Broadway Street, just behind the CHS stadium. There's plenty of room here for your furbaby to run around and blow off a little steam, or for you and your pal to enjoy a spirited game of catch. Not only that, but the park has some rocks for Fido to climb on! Bags and water are provided, so just bring your pup and prepare to play.
