For all the pooches in the vicinity of Vassar, a great pawssibility for exercising and meeting new buddies is the Hund Platz Dog Park in Memorial Park in Frankenmuth. You and Fido only need to drive 9 miles to get here from Vassar. The park is not very large, but it is properly fenced and doggies can enjoy themselves off-leash -- and that's the most important thing! If you decide to check out the park, don't forget to bring water with you since the park lacks a water source. Waste baggies are available in the enclosed area as well as trash cans. Benches and some fun agility equipment are part of the park's pawesome amenities, too. 

East Bay City

If you're looking for a larger doggie park where the small and large pooches have their own separate areas, head to the eastern side of the Saginaw River in Bay City. The Bay County Dog Park provides plenty of amenities for a pawesome experience, including drinking water and agility equipment! Waste baggies are also provided in the park, as well as a three-gate security system. If you get tired from playing with your pooch, you can sit back and relax on the provided picnic table in the park. Don't forget to be a respawnsible owner and clean up after your pooch, and, of course, to have fun!

North Flushing

Approximately 30 miles away from Vassar, you'll find 12 acres of open fields enriched with fun activities for your beloved pet! The Key-Lore Kennels Woof Woods Dog Park, located in North Flushing, offers outdoor fun and pawlenty more! If you like hiking, there are wooded trails that you can explore. There are even seasonal pools where pooches can cool off from the heat! Your land-loving dog won't be bored, either, because there is a variety of agility equipment, balls, and toys scattered around the dog park. However, this park does require all visitors to register for a membership first -- be sure to check the park's official rules.

Alderwood Estates

In case you and your pooch prefer peaceful, easy hikes instead of dog parks, you can check out the Bay City Loop Trail, located around 25 miles away from Vassar, near the Alderwood Estates apartment complex. This trail is rated easy, so it's suitable for senior doggos that need a gentle walk. The loop trail is 9.4 miles long and it's a city trail that allows leashed dogs to accompany their owners. Along the way, you can encounter beavers in their natural habitat in addition to the other dogs and people who like to hike here. Be a responsible doggie parent and bring water and poop baggies along with you!

Richville

Another, closer trail that will provide an easy hiking experience for you and your hound is the Harger Line Rail Trail. You can access this trail around 8 miles away from Vassar and follow it for around 19 miles! The trail is located near Richville, and it's suitable for all skill levels, making it pawfect for couch pup-tatoes and the fittest furry friends. Doggos and children are welcome to join you on this trail, which is accessible all year long. There is not a lot of shade along the trail, so make sure you avoid visiting during the hottest parts of the day. Bring plenty of water and poop baggies for cleaning your dog's messes!
