The walking and running trail here covers over a mile, and there are two playgrounds for the children. The lighted ball fields create a wonderful spot to take Fido for his evening exercise, and there are several restrooms throughout the 155-acre park. You will need to remember to bring a bowl for your pup’s water and doggie waste bags. If you want to go out for dinner instead of a picnic, head over to 40 East Grill where you can enjoy a casual meal on the outdoor patio.

Copper Beach

A beautiful way to spend the day in the Copper Beach neighborhood is visiting the Botanic Garden at Southern. You and your pup can wander along the paths and admire the native plants and trees in this 11-acres of historic farmland and forest. Bring some water bottles and make sure your pooch stays on a leash while touring the gardens. If you need a meal, Barberiites is a Southwestern farm fresh diner where you and Fido can enjoy chips and salsa at the outdoor tables.

Memorial Park offers 12-acres of space in the Martin Luther King neighborhood where your pup can run and frolic in the grass. The lighted ball fields provide a wonderful spot to walk Fido in the late evenings, and the kids can climb on the playground equipment while you and the pooch walk laps around the park. The picnic area is perfect when you need a rest and a cool drink, and you can refill your water bottles at the fountain by the restrooms. Another area to walk your pup is the Luetta Moore Park featuring 10-acres of land. Pups and their parents often spend time in the open field or relax at one of the picnic tables while the kids play basketball.

The city of Metter is just 15 miles from Statesboro, and is home to the Beaver Run RV Park, a great destination for the entire family. Whether you pull an RV or plan to sleep in a tent, the campground offers a scenic view and plenty of space for your pup to play. You can bring Fido and make S’mores by a campfire, or walk along the paths on a cool afternoon. The park also features a lake where the kids can fish, or swim, and your pooch can have a snifftastic time in the grassy field. The friendly staff will welcome both you and your pup and help make sure you have a furtastic time.

About 30 minutes from Statesboro in Twin City, canine lovers will enjoy spending time with Fido at the George L. Smith State Park. With seven miles of trails to hike, you and your pup can explore the mature trees covered in Spanish moss. A 412-acre lake offers an amazing view while you walk laps with your pooch around the path. The park also offers pup-friendly cabins where you and the family can stay the night and enjoy spending time in the great outdoors. Fido needs to be kept on a leash and he is not allowed in the historic sites or swimming areas, but you will find plenty of open spaces where you and your pup can romp and play.
