Dunedin Isles
Dunedin Isles is a peaceful neighborhood on the northwest side of town. The gem of the area for dog walkers is Hammock Park, a 90-acre park that rests right along Cedar Creek. A mixture of developed areas and untouched regions gives off the perfect vides for outdoor lovers. The park features nature trails that weave through the thick woods, fishing access along the creek, and paved paths. Other developed amenities include a playground, baseball fields, playground, pavilion, picnic shelters, and barbeque stations. Dogs are welcome inside the park while on a leash, and can enjoy water fountains, clean-up stations, benches, and trash bins.36
Honeymoon Island
Honeymoon Island is a gorgeous island in Dunedin that is taken up completely by the Honeymoon Island State Park. The state park is over 800 acres of land, and 2,000 acres of submerged areas. With protected wetlands and forests designed for viewing, the small island hosts dirt and concrete trails that wind throughout the area. Dogs are welcome on the island, but must remain on a leash 6 feet or shorter. The state park even has a designated dog beach, a place where dogs are allowed to enjoy the sandy shoreline and go for a cooling swim. There are clean-up bags, water fountains, trash bins, and nighttime lights at the beach.24
Dunedin City Center
The Dunedin City Center hosts a busy shopping district amidst rows of palm trees that line the road. The bustling area still has some green space for pups and humans, known as the Josiah Cephus Weaver Park. With a waterfront view, paved paths along the edge of the park, open space, and two pavilions, you and Fido will be overjoyed to come hang out here. Additional amenities include benches, clean-up stations, water fountains, trash bins, and a fishing pier. The neighborhood also hosts Eddie's Bar & Grill, a restaurant that isn't too expensive and delivers delicious and hearty portions of pub grub. The bar is also dog-friendly, with outdoor seating.12
Edgewater Drive
Edgewater Drive is the most southern neighborhood in Dunedin that rests along the western shoreline. Right along the shore is a narrow park called Edgewater Drive Park, which takes up .8 miles of the shore. The thin park has a paved trail that is as long as the park, a fishing pier, beach access and shaded sitting areas. The trail is the best place to give Fido a walk, and although the free space is small, there is still plenty of room to let Fido run around and play as long as he remains on a leash. Marguerite's Cafe is close by and offers gourmet sandwiches alongside dog-friendly outdoor seating.
Historic Dunedin
The neighborhood of Historic Dunedin not only hosts some historic places, but the downtown area of Dunedin. Even this urban jungle has some great parks, like Edgewater Park, a 4-acre park that rests right along the shore, with a fishing pier, docks, small beach area, and open space for your pup. Leashed pups are allowed at the park, and can enjoy additional features like a gazebo, restrooms, benches, clean-up stations, water fountains, and playground. Pioneer Park is also in the neighborhood and is much smaller, but still hosts a large space with paved paths and shaded sitting areas.
