Looking for a new place to walk your four legged friend? Grab his leash and head over to Little-Laurel Lime Ridge for an afternoon of adventure. This 209 acre park is just waiting to be explored. Start your adventure by checking out the Marble Caves. Created after ancient coral reefs were metamorphosized, these caves are modern day marvels. Continue on one of the three trails that wind through the park that range from 1.29 miles to 1.98 miles. Be sure to stop by the Housatonic River overlook. Treat your pal to a hike in the Quillinan Preserve. Part of the Naugatuck State Forest, this 5,000 acre parcel of land is a great place for your pooch to refresh her spirits and commune with nature. The trail system is comprised of six trails. The Red Loop is the shortest at .65 miles, while the Green Loop clocks in at 1.35 miles. The good news is that the trails are interconnected, so if you have an energetic pup, you can create a route long enough to burn her extra energy. Several types of creatures call this place home, so keep your eyes peeled for raccoons, coyotes, weasels, and squirrels.
