Babcock Road
If you’re looking for a fun place to hike with your dog, check out D.R. Henne Memorial Preserve and Shunock Brook Preserve. These two preserves are connected, and in total, they cover 83 acres. The most popular trail in these preserves is the 1.5-mile Blue Trail. This trail winds through both preserves, and it passes through the woods and goes along Babcock Brook. If you’d like to extend your hike, there are numerous small, unmarked trails that branch off of the Blue Trail. Bring doggy bags and water for you and your pup, and have a great time hiking in this preserve!

Downtown Mystic
When you’re in this Mystic neighborhood, you won’t want to miss the Mystic Seaport Museum. This museum is 10 miles from North Stonington, and dogs are allowed on the museum’s grounds. While you’re here, you and your pup can explore the museum’s nine gardens, and you can also walk through a recreation of a nineteenth-century seaside village. You’ll also get to see beautiful antique ships. If you want to get a bite to eat with your dog after the museum, head to Sea View Snack Bar. This restaurant serves classic New England seafood dishes, including lobster rolls, clam chowder, and crab cakes. Dogs are welcome to join you at their outdoor picnic tables.

Westside Norwich
Westside Norwich is a residential neighborhood with a puntastic off-leash area your dog is sure to love: Pawsitive Park. Located 14 miles from North Stonington, this dog park has two separate sections: one for large dogs and one for small dogs. Both areas have lots of space for dogs to run and play, and the large dog section has agility tunnels for your pup to run through. In summer, the park also has a wading pool where dogs can splash around and cool off. If all this excitement makes your dog thirsty, water is available. Your dog will love playing in this pawesome park!

Poquonock Bridge
If you’re searching for another furtastic place to hike with your dog, try Bluff Point State Park. This park is 16 miles from North Stonington, and it has a few different hiking trails to explore with your dog. One of the most popular trails in this park is the 3.6-mile Bluff Point State Park and Coastal Reserve Trail. This loop trail takes you through a peaceful wooded area and along Fishers Island Sound and the Poquonnock River. If all this walking makes you hungry, the park has a scenic picnic area where you and your dog can have lunch or a snack. You and your dog will always have fun in this stunning park!

Central Waterford
Central Waterford is home to Stegner Farm Dog Park, a great place to let your dog play off-leash. This park is 20 miles from North Stonington, and it has separate areas for large and small dogs. Both areas feature big fields where your dog can run and play with their new friends. There’s no water available in the park, so it’s a good idea to bring some with you. Your dog will love playing in this fun-filled park!
