Southwest Fruita
Does your hound love to hike? Then pack some water, snacks and a leash and make your way over to Devil’s Canyon. Located 10 minutes away in Fruita, this hike is definitely one for the books. The area has a few different trails, but the main loop is about five miles. Your four legged hiker will be in heaven as they trek through a red sand desert wash. The surrounding cliffs and rock formations provide a gorgeous backdrop as your pooch gets some much needed exercise. Since dogs are not allowed on the trails in Colorado National Monument, this hike allows your pal to see the area’s amazing scenery.

West Fruita
Next time your doggo needs a walk, head 10 minutes north to the Fruita section of James M. Robb Colorado State Park. Combining the Colorado River, Bookcliff Lake and Red Rocks Lake, this park is sure to make your pup’s tail wag. Hop on the River Trail and enjoy a waterfront walk or take a detour around Red Rocks Lake. Picnic tables are scattered throughout the area, so sit down for a scenic bite to eat with your pup. Snooks Bottom Open Space is another furrific option. A bit more rugged, this natural area is across the river and has plenty of room for your leashed pup to roam.

Spanish Trail
Tell your pup their going to Canyon View Dog Park and watch their tail wag with glee! Located inside Canyon View Park in Grand Junction, this off leash area is less than 15 minutes from Redlands. Since it’s right off Interstate 70, it’s an ideal spot for traveling dogs that need to stretch their legs. Sprawling across three acres, this park has plenty of room for your pooch to run free. They’ll love romping and wrestling with new furry friends and you’ll appreciate how tired they’ll be when it’s time to leave. Small and shy pups have their own area to play in, so everyone can enjoy the park at their own pace.

West Grand Junction
If your pooch is itching for a walk, help scratch that itch by taking them for a stroll down Grand Junction’s River Trail. There are several different sections and some are part of the James M. Robb Colorado State Park. This segment is 10 minutes away and is home to the Blue Heron Trail. Since it stretches 3.6 miles, your canine pal will get a nice workout. The Junior Service League Park sits on the northern end of the trail. Mosey through this patch of green space and take a break on one of the benches or soak in the river scenery at the overlook. This trail is used by joggers, cyclists, and skaters, so be sure to keep your pup on leash.

Downtown Grand Junction
When dinner time rolls around, grab your pup and head over to 626 on Rood. It’s just 15 minutes away in Downtown Grand Junction. Pairing great food with sumptuous wine, this place is sophisticated and inviting at the same time. Dine on Butter Poached Lobster Tail or Colorado Steak Salad while relaxing on the patio with your pooch. They’ll even be welcomed with water and a treat! For something a bit more casual, swing by Blue Moon Bar and Grille. The menu is chock full of delectable dishes like pizza, sandwiches, and burgers.
