Coastal San Pedro
Coastal San Pedro is home to Korean Bell of Friendship. This beautiful monument, donated by the South Korean government as a token of lasting peace, is located in Angels’ Gate Park and commands a stunning view over the Pacific Ocean. Joan Milke Flores Park is a short walk from the Korean Bell of Friendship, and, like the previous two parks, this is a great place to relax and enjoy those sea views. If the sea air is giving you and your leash-tugging buddy a bit of an appetite, head over to Lighthouse Cafe, where you and Fido can chow down on your breakfast favorites.36

Rancho Palos Verdes
This scenic spot, located just over 15 minutes from San Pedro, really is the place to be with your wag-tailed wonder! Not only are there 4 dog-friendly parks to chews from, but there’s also 5 dog-friendly restaurants and a beautiful (but a little high-end) hotel with no additional fees or restrictions for canine guests. There are 5 vacation rentals that welcome your happy hounds, and there’s even an off-leash dog park: Rancho Caninos Dog Park. It is worth noting that a strict on-leash policy exists at the 155-acre Forrestal Nature Reserve and the 55-acre Alta Vicente Reserve. This is for your own protection, as snakes are a common sight. The leash rules are strictly enforced by a park ranger.

Hermosa Beach
Just a 20-minute drive from San Pedro is a really beautiful waterfront spot to visit. One of its most pawpular attractions is the Hermosa Valley Greenbelt. This 3.7-mile converted rail line is part of the Rails-to-Trails initiative and is a fantastic place to stroll with your four-legged friend. The trail has nearby parking in Hermosa Beach and has a very mild gradient. Another puptastic place to walk is the 1,000 ft pier with its tiled pavilions along the way. This is a great place for a rest stop or just a nice spot to look back on the lights of Rancho Palos Verdes.12

Wilmington
One of the biggest advantages of staying in the Wilmington neighborhood of LA is its location -- you’re only a 7-minute drive away from San Pedro. This primarily residential neighborhood doesn't have much to offer dog owners, but it does have its own dog-friendly hotel. The Monterey Inn Hotel charges a pet fee and only allows small dogs to accompany hotel guests. This hotel is a real “cut the frills but keep the quality” kind of place for you and your furry friend to stay in. Wilmington is also just a few minutes east of Long Beach, where dog-friendly fun abounds!
