Brew Ridge Parkway
Charlottesville is not only known for being exceptionally dog-friendly, but also for its mass density of breweries and distilleries. Running through the Blue Ridge Mountain system, the Brew Ridge Parkway is a destination for any avid beer, cider, or wine drinker. Of the nearly 30 breweries like Devil's Backbone, Bold Rock, or Wild Wolf within a 20 mile radius, nearly all of them welcome dogs on their expansive patio set ups.36
Crabtree Falls
Take in the lush Blue Ridge Mountain landscape from 1,200 feet at Crabtree Falls. The path is well maintained and marked, with five breaking points at the most scenic segments of the falls. Beautiful year-round, Crabtree is a must-stop for nature lovers, and dogs will find the 2-hour hike manageable at the least. Admission is free, and parking cost is $4.24
Dogtoberfest
Every October, ACAC Waterpark allows dogs to frolic and swim before closing up for the year. Hosted by CASPCA, Dogtoberfest almost always sells out, so buy in advance. Food, beer, photobooths, and costume contests - what more could you ask for? Starting at $20 and an additional $10 per extra dog, the proceeds help CASPCA continue serving the community. Dog Fest & Howl-O-Ween
A local favorite each year, Dog Fest & Howl-O-Ween bring together several vendors and neighboring rescues to IX Art Park for a paws-itively spectacular day. The costume contest is judged in the middle of the day, and refreshments are available throughout the event. Three Notch'd Brewery even offers a selection of beers at which a portion of the proceeds will go towards CASPCA, the host of this event.
Spring Founders Festival
Put together by the Tom Tom Foundation, the Spring Founders Festival is a massive event that brings together art, technology, and entrepreneurship. Dogs are welcome to all of the open air outdoor events such as the block parties, where you can grab a beer and listen to one of the several headlining bands for the week. Spring Founders Festival brings together all the up and coming figures of culture in Charlottesville and beyond for a week of sharing ideas and innovation.
