Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend

This is an old-time tradition that has been going on since the city's founding in 1749! Did you know this city was established by three Scottish Merchants? That is why Scottish heritage is celebrated each year! The Scottish Christmas Walk Weekend is a dog-friendly event that consists of a full weekend of family activities. There will be the Scottish Christmas Walk Parade, where members of the area's Scottish clans make their way through the streets followed by pipers and drums (and don't forget the traditional Scottish dogs - the terriers and the hounds!) Canine Cruise on the Potamac

Ahoy, Matey! It's time to board the S.S. Fido with your furry friend and wind your way down the Potomac on this canine cruise! Doggies and their people can do a little sightseeing as they lazily drift down the river. All dogs get on board for free- but their people must pay! You are going to want to bring your camera to catch all the great memories of this day out on the water. The cruise is 45 minutes in total and your pup must stay on their 6-foot leash the whole time. Be a responsible pup paw-rent and make sure to clean up after your fur baby!  For cruise schedules, contact the Potomac Riverboat Company. Bon voyage!

All the President's Pups Walking Tour

This event is really pup-tastic! On Saturdays April through June and September through October, bring your leashed pup and be prepared for some history lessons, some fresh air and everything you ever needed to know about all the dogs who have lived under Mount Vernon's roof. The tour consists of 5 buildings and is about 1.25 miles in total. Fun fact - George Washington had an extreme love and respect for dogs? Join them for the tour and learn all about his dogs, their names and their lives inside the historic Mount Vernon. For more information on this event, contact Mount Vernon's ticket staff. Have a Yankee-Doodle-dandy time with your pup!
