Ay Chihuahua Port Isabel Animal Shelter Fundraiser
Ay Chihuahua Port Isabel Animal Shelter Fundraiser takes place each May to help raise money for the Isabel Y. Garcia Animal Shelter at the Port Isabel Event and Cultural Center. From 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., celebrate with other dog lovers and their beloved pooches!
The event features a delicious Mexican food buffet along with specialty margaritas, beer, and wine. Come check out this paw-tastic celebration with live music, a live auction, and a silent auction. You won’t want to miss out on the great items up for grabs!
Lastly, there is a Whiskey Barrel Raffle, where one lucky guest will win the grand prize!
Tickets are $20 per person or $35 per couple.

ResacaFest Patriotic Dog Contest
While ResacaFest in San Benito, Texas, isn’t all about dogs, you can’t miss out on the opportunity to show off you and your dog’s patriotism with the ResacaFest Patriotic Dog Contest! Dress up in your most patriotic outfit, and put your dog in whatever he or she will allow to win a grand prize.
Winner of the contest will be named San Benito ResacaFest’s Top Dog and score all kinds of great doggie prizes! Register for the contest at the Amphitheater the day of the event, which is generally held at the beginning of July.
Be at the Amphitheater by 5:45 p.m. to take part. Entry to the contest is free.

Howl-O-Ween Extravaganza
Get your dog in its best Halloween costume and come on down to Stillman Dog Park for the annual Howl-O-Ween Extravaganza every October. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., enjoy family-friendly fun with your dog!
Join the dog trick training session at 10 a.m. or enter the costume contest and dog trick contest for chances to win great prizes. Bring some cash along, as entry for the costume contest is a $5 donation.
Throughout the day, there will be games and photo opportunities, as well as great food from local eateries.
The event is free to enter. All dogs must be leashed.

Christmas at BARCC
Do you love Christmas? We bet you do! And your dog probably loves it, too! Come celebrate the biggest holiday of the year with Brownsville Animal Defense at the Christmas at BARCC event. Enjoy punch and cookies while you mingle with other pet owners in the area.
You can get photos of your pup with Santa Clause for only $5, which helps Brownsville Animal Defense. During the event, there will be a food drive, so bring some dog food donations to help out.
Enter the raffle drawing for a chance to win a prize!
The event is held on a Saturday in mid-October from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. each year.
South Padre Island
If you have a water-loving doggo, you should consider a day trip to South Padre Island! Visit the beach with your dog for a day full of fun in the sun and water of the Gulf. While dogs aren’t allowed on the deck of Malaquite Pavilion, the boardwalk, or the short section of beach in front of the Pavilion, they can explore the rest of the beach and campsites. With over 60 miles of dog-friendly beach, your pooch is sure to enjoy running and swimming with you and your family.
Pet owners have access to restrooms and rinse-off showers on the beach as well.
Leashes are required for all dogs at Padre Island National Seashore. You are required to pick up after your dog, and you need to have control of him at all times.
