The Bow Wow Film Festival

This dog-centric event is a traveling celebration of dogs and their owners. Guests will get an hour to mingle, enjoy refreshments, and enjoy some surprises before being launched into 90 minutes of short movies.

Hosted by the Santa Fe Humane Society, this annual event takes place in November at the Violet Crown Cinema, and the ticket price of $20 is too good to pass up.

All proceeds will go to the Santa Fe Humane Society spay and neuter program. You’re not allowed to call yourself a movie buff until you’ve watched “Dog Bachelor” with your furry superstar.

The Dog Days of Summer at the Santa Fe Downs

The Dog Days of Summer at the Santa Fe Downs is a summer event focused on dogs and their owners, with food, games, and entertainment for tail wagers and rump shakers alike.

Every summer, you can find happy pups and their parents at the Santa Fe Brewing Company’s The Bridge, in downtown Santa Fe. Touted as an event that “defies categorization,” it’s easy to see why locals and tourists alike take part in the festivities every June. Kids and dogs are free, but adult humans will have to purchase their own tickets. All proceeds are donated to Santa Fe Animal Shelter.

The Frank S. Ortiz Dog Park

The Frank S. Ortiz Dog Park is one of the biggest dog parks in Santa Fe and is the inspiration for The Dog Park Project. This off-leash dog park is a main attraction for dog-toting tourists, located on a massive piece of beautiful New Mexican land. There is no fee and only a few common-sense rules like you must pick up after your pup and no sick puppers allowed.

If you have a feisty pooch that needs to wind down for the evening, taking a walk inside this huge dog park is sure to tire your furry friend out.

Santa Fe Dog Hikers Meetup Group

This 26-member meetup group may be small, but they are mighty! This public group encourages owners to bring their furry companions on leisurely hikes, taking in nature and enjoying some socialization at the same time! They have meetups throughout the year at specified times. All you have to do is bring water, snacks, and your pup for these easy hikes through the wilderness.

All levels of fitness are welcome, and they plan dog-friendly hikes every few months. Check them out and make sure to pack your boots and your snoots!
