Buzzards Bay Recreation Area
When in Buzzards Bay, look up to see the Cape Cod Railway Bridge spanning the Cape Cod Canal! The Buzzards Bay Recreation Area is a place to walk on the paveway along the canal, have a picnic, watch the ships, and enjoy the day with your tail-wagging companion. If you are lucky, the seals will come to play while you are there! Are you into bird watching? The area is also known for the Ospreys and Cormorants in summer and ducks in winter. Peregrine falcons have also been nesting in the area.36
SandwichFest with Dog Parade
Who doesn't like a day in Sandwich? No, not the kind you eat! The place you can visit! Near to Buzzards Bay is the community of Sandwich, Massachusetts. Each June, they sponsor a festival that is a lot of fun for townies and visitors. The festival includes a fun dog parade! Not only do the dogs get to dress up, but you might even see humans dressed as dogs - just for fun and photo ops! There are over 90 arts and crafts booths, food and, of course - a best-sandwich contest.24
Fort Phoenix Beach and Reserve
The Fort Phoenix Beach and Reserve is one of the smallest parks in Massachusetts but is a place for sun, beach, and history. Leashed dogs are allowed on this ocean-side beach, where you can stroll on the sand and take in the waves! Your pet is sure to be wagging his tail with joy at the smells and sounds of the ocean. The beach is the highlight of the area but you can also view the remains of Fort Phoenix from the era of the Revolutionary War!12
