Arroyo Burro Beach Park
This park is a must-stop if you are visiting Santa Barbara with your four-legged friend! Arroyo Burro Beach Park is open to off-leash dogs year-round! Watch with joy as your doggo runs through the waves and romps around with furry friends. This is a specific section of the Arroyo Burro Beach, or Hendry's beach to the locals, so be sure you are in the dog area before removing Fido's leash! There is a dog washing station in the parking lot and the seaside Boathouse restaurant even has a heated, dog-friendly patio! On any visit to the Arroyo Burro Beach Park, you can undoubtedly expect to see lots of smiling doggos!36
Wags N' Whiskers Festival
Occurring annually, the C.A.R.E.4Paws Wag N' Whiskers Festival is the largest pet adoption and animal festival on the Central coastline. The event encompasses several dog and family-friendly activities, including a Best in Show contest, a Pawparazzi Photo Booth and red carpet, an awesome raffle, stylish dog grooming, and several other pet-related booths! There are multiple animal-centered performances, including nose-work canines, Search and Rescue hero MacGyver, military working canines, agility pros, and Little Star, the amazing mini horse! At the 2017 festival, 31 animal adoptions occurred on site and lots of awareness was spread to promote happy, healthy lives for the animals of Santa Barbara!24
Douglas Family Preserve
This beautiful 70-acre property is full of hiking trails, wide open spaces, and even beach access for your off-leash canine companions! The site is well-maintained with stunning views. There is even a dog water fountain! One factor to keep in mind is the proximity of steep cliffs- you may choose to keep your dogs leashed if you are concerned they will wander too close! Nonetheless, there is much enjoyment to be shared with your dog here, leash or not, by hiking through various natural habitats and taking in the astounding ocean views!12
