Bark (& Meow) Around the Block
Each August, Berkeley Humane pulls out all the stops to put on a paw-some street fair and adopt-a-thon. There are furry friends from more than 20 local animal rescues available on site, as well as an extensive range of pet-friendly games and activities! Highlights include live music and entertainment, food trucks, beer and wine from local breweries and wineries, pet vendors, and heaps more. Harnessed and leashed canines are always welcome, as long as they’re on their best behaviour.

Bark and Whine Ball
Most gala fundraisers for animal rescue organizations don’t let you bring your pup along — but this one does! The annual Bark and Whine Ball, held each November at the San Francisco Design Center Galleria, benefits a number of animal-based non-profits in the local area. With your furry friend at your feet, you can walk the red carpet, pose for the pup-arazzi, and then get ready for a glamorous evening of socializing. There’s scrumptious food, top-shelf wines, live music, contests, and an auction. And with proceeds benefiting a host of awesome rescues, there’s no reason not to let your hair down and have a grrr-eat time!

Bay Area Pet Fair
With a mission to help thousands of homeless pets find their forever homes, the Bay Area Pet Fair is the largest pet adoption event in California! More than 70 rescues and shelters will be in attendance, with a huge range of adorable fluffballs looking for loving, devoted owners. But there are heaps more to do if you’re not looking to adopt a pet, with hours of fun for the whole family (including leashed pets). There are live shows and demos, stacks of pup-friendly activities, prizes, giveaways, and heaps of free samples for your pooch. Admission and parking are free, so head on down to the Alameda County Fairgrounds to join in the fun!

Oakland Athletics Bark at the Park
Batter up! Take your furry friend out to the ballgame at the Oakland Athletics’ Bark at the Park event. It all kicks off with a grrr-eat pregame party for dogs and their owners, while the pup parade on the field is sure to keep tails wagging. Best of all, you and your dog can sit back, relax, and enjoy all the action with heaps of other dog lovers and their pets. A portion of the proceeds also go to benefit animal-based non-profits, so check the schedule for the next Bark at the Park event.
Haunted Howloween Party
Each Halloween, Wag Hotels Oakland transforms into a spook-tacular haunted hotel for the annual Howloween Party. Two- and four-legged guests are encouraged to dress in their finest costumes and get together to enjoy trick or treating, food and drink, local vendors, a fun costume contest, and heaps more. Best of all, 100% of the event proceeds go to benefit animals in need. Grab your pooch and check it out — if you’re brave enough!
